The urban and ancestral elements within a multi-generational family.
FYL met with Mr. Trung to discuss his desires for a home primarily meant to serve as a place for his grandmother to care for ancestral altars and as a gathering space for the family. This was a challenging task given the limited and slanted land plot, requiring FYL to optimize the usable space while ensuring openness within the house. Additionally, we introduced green elements into the space, creating a refuge amidst the bustling urban environment.
Another challenge was the intense heat due to the house’s west-facing frontage. We utilized metal screens and interwoven wooden brick walls, merging urban and traditional elements, both as a focal point and to address the heat issue effectively.
