Instead of making dramatic structural changes, FYL focuses on maintaining the spirit of the existing building. Classical lines are carefully retained and treated as layers of memory, allowing the old architecture to continue its story within a renewed living environment.
The interior concept is inspired by Da Lat’s gentle and traditional character, combined with a sense of mystery shaped by misty air and endless pine forests. The spaces are not meant to be visually loud, but rather subtle and suggestive, creating a calm and dreamlike atmosphere. Soft lighting is paired with neutral colors and natural materials, giving the interior a hazy, quiet, yet warm feeling throughout the day.
With room sizes kept relatively modest, the design approach emphasizes spatial openness by simplifying decorative details and reducing visual barriers. Classical interior elements are used selectively instead of extensively. Light and refined moldings are just enough to evoke a classic style without making the space feel heavy.
Materials such as textured finishes, aged-effect mirrors, and furniture with a vintage character are chosen as “storytelling elements,” carrying memories of warmth, nostalgia, and Da Lat’s slow-paced lifestyle.
